It seems we as network marketers really fall into 3 groups, those that get it, those that think they got it, and those that are clueless.

And well, it's about those that think they got it that I want to talk to you about today.

Have you ever noticed that whenever you speak to a network marketer about what they're doing they like to use big words like leverage and time freedom and all that good stuff?

Well, I sat back and really thought about these concepts this weekend and it occurred to me that most network marketers miss the forest for the trees when they use these terms.

In my first round in the industry I heard all these big words and ideas and was in ahh. I wanted them. So naturally I asked . . .

"How do I get time freedom and leveraged income?"

They said it's simple . . . Just head over to Joe's lead shack pick yourself up some leads call them and then talk them about time freedom and leveraged income.

Not knowing any better and thinking that I fully understood the situation at hand I happily followed through on the suggestions given to me.

The results were abysmal.

The second time through I tried things a little different, I took that term leverage and took it past compensation plans and how much I could make with them.

I had that "Ah ha" moment!

Here's where I realized that most network marketers talking about leverage don't really understand it as well as they think they do.

You see, leverage is about more than the money you make as a network marketer when all the dust settles and you've paid your dues, it's about each of us and how we use it.

Think past leveraged residual income to the heart of the idea.

Remember as network marketers we earn money in a leveraged situation, but we control nothing except for who we bring into our organization, how many, and how fast.

Think not about the end, but about how to apply leverage to what you control and a huge leap you will make towards your success.

That's the difference between network marketers that got it and those that think they got it.

The first thing that is needed is having a good product that may or may not be available yet in the market. Should that person see the potential where others haven't, this is the best time and place to get started.

What are the in's and outs? What are its benefits and features? What makes this product stand out over the leading brand or what other competitors have a similar product in the market? These are just some of the questions potential customers ask before testing or buying a product and being prepared to face such queries will determine if one will succeed or fail.

This can be first be introduced to family and friends and see what these people think about the product. If the feedback is good, one can already ask for referrals to get the product moving.

It is also a good idea to personally try the product frequently so people can see how good it is. To also help out in the selling process, family members and friends should also do the same to let others see it as a way to advertise and reach a larger customer base.

For more market share, one can invite the customers to become distributors also of that product. This makes everyone make money and happy. If the person is working for a network marketing organization, the same thing is done.

These people may have a hard time starting out so one might have to accompany these distributors during the first few encounters. When these people have already settled in, the same cycle should be repeated with the new recruits to keep the momentum going.

These people can also be brought to the meetings for better exposure to the product and listen to the success stories of others and learn of better ways to sell it.

Putting up a good advertisement allows curious people to call then the person should just give a good presentation to these people. Network marketing organizations provide collateral. If the person feels that this is not enough, one can have some made and posted in bulletin boards, electric posts, in the walls and distributed in major thoroughfares.

Another inexpensive way to advertise is sending out emails to people and have it forwarded to others and putting up a website. This can be done with a help of friend of the person does not know how to put it up.

There are many ways one can succeed in network marketing. By looking at the different ways other companies go about in reaching the people and combining how the organization does it, one will succeed in no time.

You may not think that work is desirable. However, when considering the day when you will have to work no more, your biggest problem will be what to do next.

A creative retirement plan is a must if you are to enjoy the days following your retirement. Often people do not plan for their retirement. They simple wait for it. In every aspect of life, planning is important. You might just find yourself flatfooted and depressed if you are not able to contemplate what to do with your golden years.

No Interests?

Travel Time
Retirement time is also travel time. Man has always been fascinated by faraway places. A vacation that takes a person to a place other than what he calls home could be an exciting and fulfilling event.

Before retirements always make sure you plan for events such as this. Traveling to exotic locales could be a dream come true for you or your partner.

Family Time
Work has the nasty habit of coming between parents and their families. Retirement might be the only way you could spend quality time with your spouse or children. If you have not considered such an activity as something worth planning, think again. Even visiting children and grandchildren will cost you a fortune.

Set Limits
At an advanced age, you might not be able to do everything anymore. However, there remain for you a vast and varied number of hobbies and interests. Set your limits according to your capabilities and participate in such. Be considerate of your body. But remember that even though your body may weaken, your mind may always remain sharp.

Allocate Resources
Being retired without anything to do is one of the cruelest punishments one could endure. However, with a little creative planning, you could spice up your retirement with various plans and activities.

These activities, however, will cost you. Make sure you allocate sufficient resources so you may be able to enjoy these activities. These resources include money, time, effort and desire.

Achieving success in life no matter how one may define what successful is will always be dependent on being persistent. No matter what the success goals are, be it in business, sports or even family life, being persistent will always play an important role.

Being persistent is defined as continuing to move on with whatever goal has been planned originally even though an external event or initial losses may have slowed down, or temporarily halt a person while he's on his way in his trip towards achieving his goals in life.

There was this movie shown which starred Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert De Niro titled "Men of Honor". It's a true to life story of Carl Brashear, who's the first African-American diver in the United States Navy to reach a rank of Master Diver at a time in history when it was difficult for African-American navy personnel to go beyond the average and excel.

Brashear (played by Gooding) had been very much persistent in his goal of completing the navy diver course even though Master Diver Billy Sunday (played by De Niro) who's been the instructor of Brashear had made the diver course difficult for him to accomplish. He was able to endure and eventually succeed all the racially motivated challenges he had faced in order to be able to complete the Navy diver course.

Brashear's persistence in achieving his goal towards success in life didn't end there as he has this ultimate goal of attaining the rank of Master Diver. As he accidentally lost his legs midway in his career while serving in the Navy, he continued to move on by undergoing intense physical therapy recovery programs in order for him to recover. With an artificial leg, was able to function in his duties in the Navy again and still be able to attain his ultimate goal of becoming a full pledged Master Diver.

In the example above that presents persistence in attaining success, unexpected events has happened in Master Diver Brashear's life. Even though he has set forth plans for himself to reach his goals in the Navy, certain events had almost prevented him from reaching them. It's his persistence that had helped him reach into himself and picked him up from his pitfalls and pushed him still to work harder in order for him to realize his goals.

In all aspects of life, there will always be challenges that will be ahead of anyone who has planned a success road map. There will be hurdles and humps along the way and the only way to cut short the journey towards the end of the map is if the person traveling that success road map has decided to stop, change directions or even return back to square one.

In order to determine how persistent a person is in his pursuit of success, he needs to know what drives him towards success. Monetary rewards at the end of the journey sometimes do not necessarily guarantee that the journey was successful.

A persistent person will always require the passion and the drive of accomplishing his goals in life.

Passion and drive in whatever a person does in life makes him committed towards his goal. Material rewards comes in secondary and only serves as a bonus once they reach the end of their success road map.

The commitment to finish a task or a goal is kept afloat by passion and drive. While this trait is intangible, it's a trait that is available for free to anybody.

While the commitment to finish the trip is fueled by passion and drive towards the success road map, its always best to check oneself how committed he is in achieving his personal goals. How committed he is in achieving his plans on the other hand can be checked on how driven and passionate he is in what he is doing.

If the goals or objectives are worth all the risk, the time and the effort, this already justifies the reason to be committed. Being committed then justifies the passion and the drive.

Anybody can become committed to his dream of becoming successful in life. As long as he knows that what he's doing is worth everything he has been working hard for and this includes the risks of failing along with the emotional and physical stresses, then that fuels the reason why he should continue moving on and be persistent in his pursuit of success.

What type of research do you have to do? What questions should you ask?

* How long has the company been around?

* What is the product?

* Is the product unique?

* Does the product have mass appeal?

* Is the product a front runner in an emerging market?

* Can you become passionate about the product?

* Does the business have a powerful marketing system in place?

* Who are the successful people in this business?

* What are the successful people doing to create that success?

* Is the product something that the majority of the public can afford?

* Am I personally financial stable enough to start a new business?

* What type of a monthly marketing budget will I have to set aside to be successful?

* What are the conversion statistics for the marketing process?

* Is the business truly duplicable?

* What would be my break even point?

* Is there a way to make money quickly with this business or is there a way that I can create a quick income in marketing this business?

* Etc.

You see it's not just the opportunity that has to be correct. You TOO have to be correct for the opportunity and you have to be in a financial position to take advantage of the opportunity at hand.

Way too many times I see people joining my business that jump in on a hope and a dream.

They have barely enough money to pay for there monthly membership commitment and yet they still want to know the fastest way to grow their business FREE.

When people get caught up in the emotion of opening the possibility for more in their life sometimes they don't think clearly. They think if they can just get themselves in they will get rich.

It's not just about getting yourself in.

It's about getting yourself in and putting yourself in a position to be able to fully maximize the opportunity at hand.

I get asked the following WRONG question all the time.

"How long until I make money?"

It's not about how long until you make money it's about what you have to do to make money.

This is the natural state of all things and it's not going to change. In order for your income to grow you must grow.

Change the word "IF" to "WHEN"

It's the people that see the compensation plan and do all the research that I've noted above and then say to themselves that it's only a matter of time until they max

Network marketing is not something that works part of the time or if your lucky. It always works as long as you do everything in your power to make it work.
